Welcome!

Whether it’s snakes, storms, or school bullies, everyone has things that make them afraid. But when Ella and her friends are worried or afraid, they call upon their very special friend who helps them sort out their feelings. Are you worried or afraid? Well, “..if you might be carrying a troubled thought or two. Just tell this friend and then believe and surely he’ll help you!”

May 13, 2014 – Visiting the Florence Sawyer School in Bolton

On Tuesday, I visited the Florence Sawyer School in Bolton, MA.  We had a great time reading Ella and the Worry Doll and creating our own stories with our new kindergarten friends!  Afterwards, I received this touching email from Mrs. Schmidt, a teacher at Florence Sawyer.  I’m glad the students enjoyed my visit as much as I did!

Dear Allison,

Thank-you so much for sharing your time with us!! You, once again, have touched the lives of many children by sharing your love, gentle, caring ways and encouragement with our young writers!  You not only inspired our children with new ideas for writing, you also gave our worriers another way to cope!  Another teacher said she had several children working on recipes  and ingredients for stories in the afternoon after rest!  You inspired  the kindergarten!  Several children in my class spent extra time looking at our copy of your book and discussing the parts the Worry doll helped Ella with!  Very neat to observe.

Thank-you again Allison,

Carolyn Schmidt

PS.  We are glad you believed in yourself enough to write this story for all the children that need it!!  You are making a difference Allison :)

May 6, 2014- Worry Doll meets the students of the Peaslee School in Northboro, MA

I had a wonderful time meeting with the students at the Peaslee Elementary School in Northboro, MA today. We read the Ella and the Worry Doll and talked about what it takes to have an idea, turn it into a story, and then turn the story into a book! Later, we brainstormed together to come up with some wonderful and creative stories!

Here’s one story we created today: The color orange was too bright to make friends. To solve the problem, he gave his friends sunglasses so that he could still stay bright AND be their friend!

Pretty imaginative for a kindergarten class, don’t you think?! Pictures to follow!
